Montreal
Massive! I'm not sure if its the american influence but everything seams super sized here, the streets and the cars mainly-the largest british SUV is about the smallest you get here.
For the first few days i have been staying in a place called Mount-Royal Plateau, great area of town where a little mound of a hill just sticks up out of the middle of no where. The best bagels ever are from montreal, plus extortionate amounts of maple syrup (and anything else made from maple: butter, candy, sugar, liqure...etc).
It snowed the week before i came and it all gets pushed out of the way into public parks or open spaces by the snow plows so now there are massive 15ft piles of snow still around that are all grey and dirty waiting to melt. Luckily even if it did snow there is about 20 miles of underground shopping and cinemas that joins onto the excelent metro system so you can get pretty far without going outside! The public transport is amazing; cheap, fast and easy.
I'm now staying in the Concordia Univercity halls with Megan from college, which is kinda weird being on campus-it almost feels like i go to uni here!

Flights and all that Jazz
Wow 3 hours delay at heathrow, just sitting on the plane "just another 40 mins..." i did get a free muffin though.
Zurich is excellent, if you ever have a chance to go to the Swiss city do it (i have no idea about the actual place but the airport is pretty dang fancy). It snowed like crazy here non stop for the next three hours that i was delayed.
Finally after another 8 hours on the plane spent chatting to a 50 year old guitar crazy ex-hippy and an electronic engineer (also watching the night at the museum) I landed in Montreal. At this point due to several reasons that i won't mention i had been awake for about 32 hours and therefore a little on the slow side. Having to face the interrogation of customs officials isn't so fun when your in this state, trust me. But after a little questions and funny looks i was accepted into Canada, free to roam for 6 month.
Nice.
